About hundred years ago Malleshwaram was known as Jakkasandra village where the horse carts were a chief means of transport. Kadu Malleshwara temple in Malleshwaram is a proof of the area’s antiquity.
It is a matter of pride to say that in the year 1926 a group of friends formed a Ram Bhajana Mandali headed by Sriyut Vithalanand Devojirao Pandre, Chowdari Mulkatte Veerappa and Srimathi Ratna Bai actively spent about two years in singing Bhajanas of Lord Sri Rama. The idea become a reality when a vacant Municipal site measuring 60 x 40 ft. at the junction of 7th Cross and Coconut Avenue Road was purchased for a meager amount of Rs.84/- which was a considerable amount in those days. Subsequently the mission of collecting funds for establishing Rama Mandira began with the contribution of Rs.10/- each of the friends and well wishers. Even by organizing Geeta discourses in the village and made over the contributions of the devotees to the Rama Mandira.
